SB Cattle Co. ranch management team in Santa Barbara County

Our Story

About SB Cattle Co.

Building lasting partnerships through expertise, communication, and a genuine owner-operator mindset.

The Owner-Operator Difference

Founded on the principle that exceptional ranch management requires more than technical expertise. It demands genuine partnership. At SB Cattle Co., we approach every property as if it were our own. This owner-operator mindset shapes how we communicate with landowners, structure lease agreements, and make decisions for the long-term health of both livestock and land.

Our Approach

What Sets Us Apart

Communication & Trust

We believe in transparent, ongoing dialogue. From initial consultations to daily operations, we keep landowners informed and involved in decisions that affect their property. This open communication builds the foundation for successful, long-term partnerships.

Long-Term Vision

We're not interested in quick profits or short-term arrangements. Our lease agreements and management plans are structured around sustainability, both for the land and for our relationships. We invest in the future of every property we manage.

Deep Expertise

Many years of hands-on experience in cattle grazing, livestock management, ranch staffing, and property management across Santa Barbara County. We understand the unique challenges and opportunities of Central Coast agriculture.

Leadership

Meet Erik Mallea

Principal & Operations Director

Erik Mallea brings years of agricultural experience to SB Cattle Co., with deep expertise in cattle operations, ranch management, and sustainable land use across Santa Barbara County.

What distinguishes Erik's approach is his commitment to understanding each property owner's vision and goals. Rather than imposing a one-size-fits-all solution, he works with you to develop customized grazing and management plans that balance productivity, sustainability, and long-term land health.

His professional focus centers on three core principles: maintaining clear, consistent communication with landowners; structuring agreements that benefit both parties; and applying the careful stewardship mindset of an owner-operator rather than a service vendor.

Throughout his career in Central Coast agriculture, Erik has developed deep expertise across multiple areas, from rotational grazing systems and Angus cattle management to property consulting and seasonal ranch operations. This knowledge allows SB Cattle Co. to provide solutions for different property types and owner objectives.

Based in Solvang, Erik and the SB Cattle Co. team serve properties throughout Santa Ynez Valley, Lompoc, Los Alamos, Gaviota, and the broader Central Coast region.
